5.0 out of 5 stars Shocking True Story, October 28, 2009 By Renea W. Hamilton (Tullahoma, TN) This shocking true story keeps the reader intrigued till the very end. If you enjoy non fiction you will appreciate the story of this dedicated small town sheriff and the sinister plot to have him killed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Most Shocking Read, October 28, 2009 By Michele Doucette (Atlantic Canada)(REAL NAME) This drama is powerful and thought-provoking. With a contract out on his life, it was quite shocking to read the actual descriptors related to the countless times that Ron, a small time sheriff in the state of Tennessee, managed to escape with his life intact. Even in situations whereby he was absolutely terrified, which you will shudder at knowing, he was down right adamant that justice would prevail. Willing to put his life on the line, I simply had to keep reading. In truth, it is my belief that a higher power intervened so that he could tell his story, courtesy of Stan. As a result of this book, their first collaboration, Stan St.Clair and Ron Cunningham have proven that they are a remarkable team.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense read. Could not put it down, November 12, 2009 By Bobo Majors "oskieguy" (Tullahoma ,TN USA) I just happen to know Ron and his story so when I got a chance to buy and read this book I jumped. Some of the characters in this book and scary but somehow Ron kept his head when all around him were losing theirs. I found this book an easy read with quick twist that make it hard to put down. Plus I know RON. Buy this book

palce in time

A Place in Time

is a moving novella about the turbulent years following the Civil War in America.

The main character, Will Patterson, comes from a traumatic past. His mother had been reared by wealthy slave-owning parents, but rued the life into which she had been born. After marrying a humble circuit riding preacher, he is killed in the war, then she succumbs to disease, leaving Will to fend for himself as a poor farmer at age eighteen.

Follow his adventures as he is befriended by an opulent neighbor with a beautiful and charming daughter, is placed in a position of leadership, and catches the eye of the Radical Republican organizers of the Reconstruction. From this point on, he is magnetically drawn into the center of the effort, earns a University degree, then becomes the driving force behind the shutting down of the Ku Klux Klan for that era, and enforcement of Civil Rights Legislations.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Place in Time nouvella review, May 10, 2009 By Herbert Jamieson (San Antonio,Texas) A Place in Time This 122 page novel attempts to be a work of fiction describing Reconstruction after the Civil War. Historical persons are interwoven with fictional characters. Stan St.Clair has attempted to describe the feelings of the fictional character Will Patterson in helping to rebuild his native South from the Old South into a New South, with the help of Radical Republicans who gained control in November 1866. The battle to give rights to former slaves and politically to reestablish the Union in the southern states is described in detail using the Will Patterson character as a person from the South helping to rebuild the South. Mr. St.Clair has attempted to make his work as historically accurate as possible and he has also attempted to allow the actors in the novel describe their points of view as Southerners helping Radical Republicans establish Reconstruction. I highly recommend this novel as light reading for anyone interested in the Reconstruction Era. Immediately after the Re-construction Era, Jim Crow was established with a resurgent Klu Klux Klan and lynchings unimaginable in New York City in the late 1890s and throughout the United States. A massive Klu Klux march in Washington, DC in the very early 1920s. This novel is set prior to this time period. I commend Mr. St.Clair for his attention to detail and almost historical accuracy.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put this book down, April 11, 2009 By Kimberly A. Elkins (forks wa, home of twilight books) This book should be in every class room across America. an easy read full of history of white and black America, and the struggle for a free Nation for all, with Obama as president we have come along way, thanks to this author my 15 year old son has a much better understanding of blacks and whites fighting for a freedom in old America, and how it came to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly phenomenal read, March 22, 2009 By Michele Doucette (Atlantic Canada) This short novella is one that Stan St. Clair can be extremely proud of. Throughout its reading, I felt as though I was right there with Will Patterson, following in his every footstep. This wee tome, a delightful work of fiction reflecting 19th century American views, has been superbly written to support the continued fight against prejudice. Many will also find the publication release of this novella to be a most fitting one, now that Barack Obama has become the first black president of the United States. Clearly, however, there are many changes needed still before one can truly claim One Nation, Under God. I encourage everyone to read A PLACE IN TIME. Quinn

Quinn

is a touching tale of triumph and love, but one that ended too soon.

Born into a struggling but warm family in the early 20th century, he was a mentally challenged, special person. The quandary which was to surround him would alter the destiny of his family and all of their future generations.

Quinn, July 27, 2009 By Roger L. St.Clair "Avid Reader" Stellar writing! ...Quinn is a book that immediately pulls you into the storyline from the very first page. It gives the reader a glimpse into the era not long after the Indian wars and the settling of the west by homesteaders and native Americans alike. The story epitomizes the struggles, joys and disappointments of one pioneering family and how they overcome their circumstances. It demonstrates that love of a very "Special" Child and faith is stronger that governments, land, community and even manifest destiny of our great country. It's a quick, easy read and that will keep you spellbound until the last page.

Also on Quinn, from Ellen Bryant, Cookeville, TN Quinn is the best book I have ever read! When the kids got cold, I was cold right with them. It made me want to know more about the family and what happened after the book ended.

MYSTERIOUS PEOPLE OF THE BIBLE

In the Light of History

Average Amazon.com rating– five stars
Early praise

From Boston Globe bestselling novelist David S. Brody, Boston Mass: I came across this book while doing some research. I finished it in a single seating. It is very well researched and the writing is clear and concise. But, most of all it offers fascinating insights into the stories of the Bible. If you are looking for ways in which they fit in with the known historical record you will be enriched and enlightened by this book.

I have read the book Mysterious People of the Bible In the Light of History by Stanley J. St.Clair and found the book readable, enjoyable and that the author used a balanced approach attempting to explain the enigmas in the Bible by shining the light of history on these enigmas. I have studied prehistory and religion intensively and thought that Mr. St.Clair used historical references to make biblical episodes more clear to the lay reader. He uses Josephus more than anyone I have ever seen, which I thought excellent. He also attempted to weave DNA test results and population genetics into the theological explanation, which I also thought was an excellent approach to explain the Bible. I really thought that Mr. St.Clair wove a beautiful tapestry of his subject, using numerous historical references to try and explain biblical stories. Herb Jamieson San Antonio, Texas

Editorial review by Michele Doucette, Stephenville, NF Canada While I have not made an extensive study of prehistory and religion, it was both an honor and a privilege to be engaged as editor for this book. Given Stan’s extensive research, I worked painstakingly to ensure the matching of noted reference and source material. In my estimation, this is one of the key highlights of this tome. Herein you will find historical references, biblical references, DNA references; in short, references to both enable and guide the reader in continuing this search on their own, should they feel beckoned to do so. The author does indeed, put forth many fascinating insights as to the so-called mysterious people of the Bible.

So far I haven’t got a quarter of the way through your book but, being reasonably knowledgeable about biblical affairs, I have found it to be spell-binding. Every page invites a question. May I congratulate you on an excellent book. It is well-written, well-researched and well-presented. I particularly like the footnotes. They are invaluable if further reading is required. (Notes from personal emails written by Niven Sinclair, Historian, London, UK)

Stan, Your book is a wonderful read, full of interesting thought and research far beyond most clan thought, did you wonder if it was going to cause a reaction? It was a breath of fresh air, and now I know what you mean by, “causing both parties to think". I will hold it in my library as a real treasure, a must read by anyone, not just clansmen, but by all. Please read this book, everyone, it’s a must. All the best, Shawn "Note: clan refers to the Scottish Clan Sinclair" (Post to an Internet Open Forum by list moderator) Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada
