PUBLISHING AGREEMENT

This document shall be deemed as a legal agreement between Stanley J. St.Clair, dba St. Clair Publications, herein called the publisher, and the undersigned author. The publisher shall provide for the author editing services, layout of material, cover design, and any other costs which may occur regarding publication of the accepted book. (Click on each topic on Home Page to determine cost for these services). The publisher shall also provide the ISBN, have proof copies printed until both the author and the publisher are satisfied with the result, and agree to publish the work for public sale. The publisher shall post all accepted books on the Internet website of St.Clair Publications, and make them available on Amazon.com, and Target.com, when applicable. The retail price shall be set at a fair market price by the publisher, and the author will receive a royalty based upon this retail price. The list of prices shall become a part of this contract. The publisher shall make available to the author copies of the book at the set cost of publication based upon a schedule which may be changed only based upon raises in cost of materials, printing, etc. The books shall be printed on-demand. The author certifies that he/she is the originator of said work, and has sole right to its publication. The publisher shall have the exclusive right to publish the accepted book for a minimum period of one year. The publisher shall have the right to choose an outside printer. At the end of a twelve month period from the date of this contract, the author has the right to publish the said book with another publisher, and resumes all rights of ownership of the book, but not the ISBN, which remains the property of St.Clair Publications. The publisher may continue to publish the book after this time only with the permission of the author. Providing both the author and the publisher agree, the book could then be published by both a new publisher, and St.Clair Publications. St.Clair Publications provides no advances or warranties as to the amount of sales which will result, or profit which may be made from the publication of the accepted book. Any further promotion of the book shall be the responsibility of the author.

Addendum to St.Clair Publications Contract for Poetry Books, etc.
For works of poetry, songs, jokes, short stories, or other books consisting of a series of individual entities, St.Clair Publications agrees that the author has the right to publish any individual poem or entity at any time in any other publication which will accept previously published items, even during the time which this book is in publication, provided credit is given to its previous publication in this book. In order to be so published, the author agrees to notify St.Clair Publications of such publication, and provide a copy of said published item. In this event, any monetary gain from such will go solely to the author.

Author agrees to hold Stanley J. St.Clair dba St.Clair Publications, and all associates, harmless for any errors made, or any misunderstandings regarding this contract, and will not initiate any suit against the publishers for any reason.

Direct sales to bookstores through Ingram, Barnes and Noble. etc. Includes on-line St. Clair Publications, and Amazon sales in US, Canada, UK, and Europe. Will have option to advertise to bookstores in next Ingram Catalogue after release of book. Low author cost on personal orders.

Set up: Interior file, $40.00; Cover File, $40.00.
Proof charge: $30
$40 each for changes to proof requested by author.
Cover design minimum $100.00
Custom designs from author’s pictures or designs $150.00
Any future changes will cause new charges.
Annual maintenance fee: $18.00
Ingram Catalogue option: $65.

In order to be eligible for Ingram printing and distribution, I understand that my default Word font MUST be Book Antigua prior to typing the manuscript, and NO Times New Roman or Ariel fonts may show up in the document submitted to St. Clair Publications, even hidden. All fonts must be able to be embedded, or I must do one of three options: I must retype the manuscript to comply, or pay $20 per hour to have the manuscript retyped, or I must have the title submitted to Amazon rather than Ingram for printing and distribution. NO exceptions.

Also choice of Basic or Pro plan.
Basic is free. Pro plan gives higher royalties. Set up, $40; $15 annual renewal.
